Harbin - aquarium & snow festival

It's been a long time since I bloggged. I was procrastinating cos I find it very tedious to upload pics, & also because I haven't had much chance at all in April to go online, I've juz been busy concentrating on my studies T_T now I don't have much time still, but more like I'm going to be having study break in may, so I can go on9 more (hopefully) & try to study at the same time ^^;

The main attraction was the snow & ice festival, so that's my focus for this post (well, the snow sculptures, that is). Of course, we did other things too, since we only saw the festival for quite a short while (a few hours). Like going to see the aquarium ;-)

There were 2 shows, the sea lion & the beluga whale. We didn't get to see the sea lion show, but we managed to see the latter. They're quite unique actually ^_^ & that pose is the main highlight of the show too lol the pose makes ppl go "awww~" XD the person on the left is a girl, & on the right is a guy. So I found it amusing that the guy has to kiss the whale too! ;-D hehehehe

Anyway, here're the snow sculptures pics~ (lots of pics for this post) ^__^

this reminded me of a fairytale I read about some giant's children, & the boy who fooled the giants by squeezing water out of cheese which they thought was a stone.

cos it's the year of the ox, I'm quite sure there were more sculptures, but I didn't bother to put take picture of it, cos I don't really like oxes ^^;

the title is "Time Standing Still" ;-)

azlan!!! XD XD

a bunny using a laptop!!! XDD

when I saw the pig, I was like, "wth?!?" lol

hahaha I took picture of it cos it obviously broke, so sad ;-P

I liked that kinda sculpture, so my sis helped me take a back & front view... actually she took 4 angles lol but I'm not gonna show the other 2 sides, I don't think people will be interested ^^;

I thought the title "dream" was stupid for this sculpture, but then again, I don't like this sculpture anyway ^^;

I found it funny to see that thing taking food from the pumpkin or whatever it is like that ^_^

& lastly, my fav sculpture (& the most good-looking one too lol)

I found it so nice that I came back & took another picture (actually a few more) later haha ^^;

he reminds me of the prince caspian kinda look lol

anyway, I'm tired, so I'll stop here. I'll continue the ice festival pics in my next post ^^;

Beijing

I decided to write about my trip to China, since there’re a few things I want to say about it. The thing about going to China at Chinese New Year time is quite special compared to going other places at Chinese New Year. Since nearly everyone in China is Chinese, it’s obvious that everyone celebrates Chinese New Year there. In China, they get 8 days public holiday starting from the first day of Chinese New Year. XD XD

But, there’re still people working during those 8 days obviously, like the tour guide, & the restaurants. But even so, a lot of restaurants would close during the New Year. So we expected all the shops to be closed, but thankfully, it wasn’t as bad as that.

Another lovely thing about spending Chinese New Year in China is seeing the fireworks. ^__^ You won’t be able to see that many fireworks in the air anywhere else on Chinese New Year. They just kept going on & on!!! Everyone buys fireworks, because they believe that if they spend all that money on fireworks, money will come in that year. & of course, they also believe that it chases the evil spirits & bad luck away. So I got to see a lot of fireworks & firecrackers, & fireworks exploding directly above my head. It was a beautiful sight. & you also feel the Chinese New Year atmosphere there. ;-D

firecrackers ;-)

& the fireworks, close up XD sorry, but I was taking the video vertically, so the fireworks are coming out from the left of the screen instead of the bottom, looks kinda weird ^^;

Another special thing about China which isn’t in Malaysia is their dumplings *__* But I didn’t like those dumplings very much ^^; well, they don’t have yee sang in China either, so I guess yee sang is a Hong Kong thing…

Anyway, we went to 2 places in China, Beijing & Harbin. We went there before, because we had gone to China at least 4 times already, & our 1st time was in Beijing, in 1996, & we went Harbin in 2000. Cos I was quite young at that time, I hardly remembered anything from our trips to China, but that could also be caused by the language barrier because last time they didn’t have English speaking tour guides. Now they finally are able to provide, but unfortunately the English speaking tour guide in Harbin wasn’t so good ^^; most of the time it was either him struggling to understand us, or vice versa lol otherwise, he was ok, a young & enthusiastic man hahaha wth that sounds weird. Although I said young, but he’s 26, & he thinks he’s old (all 20+ people seem to feel old, I wonder why), but maybe it’s because he was comparing it to my age, but I didn’t think we were that far apart, well, more than 5 years could be considered quite far apart, but maybe it’s just the feeling I got from him, that he’s still a bit like a child lol.

Sorry, got sidetracked for a while ^^; back to our trip, basically we went to those places ppl should go to in Beijing. Like, the Forbidden City ^__^ & the great wall, of course XD There were other historical places we went to too, but I don’t remember much about them, sorry ^^;

This was at the base, where we just started out... whenever I see lots of stairs like this, I lose the will to walk up lol ^^;

I think this was after the initial flight of stairs, but as you can see, still a long way to go lol it's not so obvious in the picture, but in real life it's really quite steep, you know...

hahaha dunno whether you noticed, but in this picture it's more obvious that there're ppl resting on the stairs along the way ;-D

I wanted to try & capture my fear in the pics, but it's not so easy. While walking up, I'd imagine myself slipping & falling down the stairs... I think it'd definitely be fatal *shudders* or maybe not, if I were to crash into the ppl below me, but injuring them would make me feel bad too ^^; so I was trying to show how steep the stairs are, but it's not very obvious... anyway, I was very careful when walking up, I never let go of the handrails lol ;-)

oh, & we managed to reach the top of the hill in 1 hour & 10-15 mins! *proud* Cos the stupid tour guide gave a time limit of 2 hours, even though this tour is supposed to be more customised *grumblegrumble* but since we went down faster than coming up (obviously lol), we made it in 2 hours ;-D

I forgot where this was... oh well, I just know it's definitely not the forbidden city, so it's not that important lol... the special thing about this picture is its unique design on the wall, if you didn't notice... the top windows above the red lanterns are all different shapes XD

a minisized version of the forbidden city! XD I <3>

another model of the forbidden city ^__^ it'd be nice if I could live in such a splendid place like that, I think I wouldn't even mind going round the whole house everyday! XD lol that's if I had lots of free time, of course...

next post, harbin! ;-)

Pet Society

Hi!!! ^__^ I've been meaning to blog ever since CNY, & obviously about China XD I'm uploading a video now on youtube, so while waiting to for it to upload (if it does), I decided to blog about something else 1st, because I've delayed blogging long enough to blog about China, so I might as well blog about something else 1st, & China next time since there's no hurry anyway ;-)

So, the latest thing in my life since that lovely holiday week (which was too short, why can't hols be longer?!?) is that I got obsessed on Pet Society ^^; the obsession lasted for a short while only though, surprisingly, cos I don't feel obsessed about it anymore lol. But 1 of the 1st things I still do atm when going on9 is to load PS, so I'm not completely sick of it. Actually, I'm not sick of PS at all, but I just feel lazy to play it, compared to when I 1st started out, obviously.

I'd like to talk all about PS, but I feel that most people would know about it already, so I don't wanna bore anyone with a long explanation about it ;-( but let me just summarise it by quoting what 2 people said after I explained about it... "It's like Neopets". But someone I know doesn't like Neopets but likes PS, so then it all depends on the person in the end, becaused I liked Neopets ;-D I still do, just feel lazy to play only ^^;

The difference between PS & Neopets is that in PS, it's like sims, in the sense that you get to dress up your pet, & decorate the rooms in your house. Well, I said rooms, but when you start out, you only get 1 room, & when you level up, you get more rooms, that's it. & your levelling up (as in, your pet, that is), is based on points (paw points lol), & there's also coins (there's a difference). Coins allows you to buy things for your pet, like clothes, or for your room (like furniture, & toys! ;-D). I'm not sure what paw points are really for, to me they're just to get more rooms ^_^ but you can only get 6 rooms max in a house, & you can only have 1 house, which is why I've gotten lazy trying to level up. Not that I reached 6 rooms already, actually, I reached 4 only, but I feel like my enthusiasm ran out lol I'm like that ;-)

So, I thought I'd just put up a few pics of my pet XD I'd like to show the rooms also,but it's too bothersome to printscreen the rooms, because the rooms are wider, & you've to click the arrows to move around the room (left & right arrows only), so you can't see the whole room on the screen T_T

isn't he cute? XD it's a he, btw, I purposely chose it to be a male muahahahaha XP default gender seems to be a female, if the people creating the pet didn't notice ;-P

& cos I found the girl's clothings quite cute too... I CROSS-DRESSED him XD XD XD

poor thing hahahahaha ^__^

I'm like a doting pet owner XD btw, dressing up the pets reminds me of barbie dolls ^^; but they're SO much cuter than barbie dolls XD but I guess we're all still like children, which shows that there's nothing wrong or embarrassing playing with barbie dolls (unless you're a guy ^^;) even when you're not a child anymore.

Actually, I have more pics of my pet (which is why someone was suggesting that I post them on a PS blog lol but I didn't wanna bore PS fans with pics of MY pet lol cos I keep on saying "so cute! so cute!" Those who were with me had to put up with that, poor things ;-P

Anyway, I hope you think my pet is cute too lol XP agree with me! hahahaha XD btw, one of my lecturers is like that, she'd teach, & then when she asks us something like, "You remember learning this, rite?", nobody would respond, so she'd say, "Say yes!" lol that makes students laugh, but it's the way she says it too, the only person I know who does that. On the other hand, another of my lecturers says "I'll kill you!" or "I'll slap you!" which reminds me of achmed XD

oh, & another thing about the pets is that they have no fingers! so they're just like Doraemon LOL XP so although the pets have accesories that you can put on their arm, like bracelets & watches, but obviously you can't put a ring on them. This was obvious to some ppl (but not me) because there was an outfit of a wedding gown, & there was a bridal tiara (which looked nice), & bridal bracelet, but no ring!!! Kinda feels incomplete, doesn't it? ^^;

the latest new item that came out (because of valentine's day) was a diamond ring, & I forgot that pets couldn't wear it, but it's a good thing I didn't buy it. Because the diamond ring was in a box, so it's more like decoration around the house. You click on the box, & the pet goes to the box, & waves its hand, & the box opens! & the pet laughs lol the pets laugh a lot, it cld get irritating after a while, which is why I don't bother to switch on the sounds effect ;-P

so yeah, that's about it... next post... China? I hope so ^^;
