L'Arc~en~Ciel

This is my 1^st post for the year 2009. ^^; kinda late to blog, since it’s been more than 2 weeks since the new year.

I’ve been busy with the start of college & subjects, but in the back of my mind occasionally I’d think of blogging lol. As usual, the things that I thought I’d blog about I forgot already, but there were a few things I wanted to blog about in the hols, but because of the lousy connection at that time, I ended up not using the computer at all in Dec ;-(

One of the things I wanted to blog about was my latest obsession XD it’s kinda irritating when you’re obsessed, cos it could affect your sleep & all that, but on the other hand, there are moments when you are very, very, VERY happy ^______^

& since my blog is like my thoughts & all that, I thought I’d juz blog about it, since I’m CRAZY about it ;-P actually, in Dec I was crazy about it, & now, the feelings have been replaced by a mild obsession, which is close to obsession, but without the losing sleep part ;-)

Anyway, my obsession is this group called L’Arc~en~Ciel XD

They consist of a singer, a guitarist, a bassist & a drummer.

It’s kinda strange how I started liking them. The people who were near me in Dec would think there’s something wrong with me, because it’s as though I suddenly started liking them. But actually, it wasn’t as sudden as I thought. Thinking about it, I’ve liked them for quite a while, just that the liking increased a lot when I saw their music videos ^^; lol

You see, I heard a few songs of theirs quite long ago (around 2004), & I only had a few of their songs which I liked. But when it got easier to d/l music, then I found a whole page of their entire discography (in 2007), so I decided to collect all their songs ^__^ & around that time (also in 2007, not sure which came 1^st though, but the connection on my comp was quite good in 2007, so I d/led a lot that year) I started getting interested in music videos, & since it was easy to d/l, when I found a whole page of their music videos, I decided to d/l it as well. Other than that page of music videos, I don’t think I’ve seen a collection of more music videos from any other artists. L’Arc~en~Ciel had at least 40 music videos!!

The only other artist that I downloaded all his music videos was Gackt, & that was around 20, I think. But L’Arc~en~Ciel started since 1992, whereas Gackt started his solo career in 1999, so technically Gackt did more music videos than L’Arc~en~Ciel considering the time frame.

Anyway, back to how I liked them. Although I d/led their songs & music videos in 2007, I didn’t listen to or watch it because I didn’t have that much free time, & I was busy listening to Gackt at that time lol. So, I only started listening to them last year in 2008 (I think it was around March). & at first, I just thought their songs were ok, a few were nice, but I grew fond of the songs. & I saw a few of their performances (only 2 actually) in 2007, which probably was what made me decide to d/l their music videos (it’s mean to say this, but my principle of d/ling videos, or rather music videos, is that if the ppl in it are ugly, I don’t want to watch it ^^;). So, obviously I thought they looked not bad, & the vocalist, hyde, was the type that I like ;-D

Yes, I’m that kind of shallow person who likes ppl based on looks, but it seems that there were some singers that I like that are ugly, but I didn’t think they were ugly. Maybe they’re not so bad, & the person I was showing it to had higher standards or something, but I liked those singer’s songs first before I saw them. It was the same with L’Arc~en~Ciel actually, just that I don’t think I’d be obsessed with them if it wasn’t because I like hyde so much ^^;

Sadly, I don’t have any good pictures of hyde (altho I feel this pic is not bad, but I wouldn't like him very much if I saw this pic), so it’s obvious that I didn’t exactly like him because of his looks, but more because of how his personality is on TV. I mean, I like him the way I like to watch Johnny Depp. But he’s not even acting, so there’s actually not reason for me to like him just like that ^^;

This is from one of their music videos. Obviously, I print screen-ed it XD I guess that’s sth like the kind of look that I like, so if other ppl don’t like this picture, then it’s obvious that they don’t like that type of look lol ;-P but those who know me know that I like guys with longish hair, & I also tend to like guys that look a bit like girls, although to me, I'd never think of them being close to a girl, but lots of girls don't like girlish guys cos they don't look like guys basically, whereas I think it's obvious that they're still guys LOL

Anyway, I finally finished listening to their discography last Dec. & after listening to their discography, I decided to watch their music videos (since I had so much free time because I couldn’t use the computer ^^;). At first, I was just having fun laughing at hyde because of the way he’d perform in music videos (I’m not sure whether what he was doing could be called dancing, but it was amusing to watch).

But then, seeing the music videos made me grow fond of them, & especially hyde of course. Another thing was that in 2007 (around Aug), my dad accidentally taped their 15^th Anniversary Live for me (because he was taping other things). I think that that was also partly another reason why I liked them more, because it was nice seeing them perform, & the few songs that I knew were performed in it too ^__^

& that’s about it, my story on how I started liking them. Not sure whether it makes sense, because it’s a bit jumbled up, but that’s how my thoughts are ^^; sorry to bore you with my obsession, but even blogging about it makes me happy XD

& I only blog about my obsessions once anyway, so far the obsessions that I have had since I started blogging was gay comics (it’s still an obsession), love comics (I still like to read it, but there are less nice stories now ^^;), gackt (that post was even shorter, but I wasn’t that obsessed about him anyway, but I was pretty obsessed about him at one time, I’m quite sure I lost a bit of sleep because of him lol), & of course L’Arc~en~Ciel. Also, I still like Heath Ledger, even though he's dead, but I don't consider that an obsession, because I didn't even see all his movies ^^;

I don’t think I’ll be blogging about L’Arc~en~Ciel again because there’s nothing much that I could say about them without going into fangirl mode ^^; & I’m not really talking about them themselves, if ppl wanted to find out more about them, they can check them out at wikipedia.

Oh, but another thing I’d like to say about them is that they have their own solo projects even though they’re still a band. So obviously, I focused on hyde’s solo projects, but I haven’t listened to his songs yet or watched his videos, even though I d/led them ^^; I’ve decided to take it slow lol ;-)

PS: I’m going to China in CNY!!! XD I’m looking forward to that ^__^

it's only 13 seconds of their debut at Music Station, & the ppl in the box at the bottom right of the video are L'Arc~en~Ciel. Lol hyde's reaction when he saw his own debut video was funny, obviously he was embarrassed, or else he wouldn't have laughed & covered his face with his hands ;-D

Holidays!!!

My exams just ended!!! Which is why I'm finally blogging so long after being inactive for so long~ ^^; well, quite long, but actually, it was about a month, or less, that I started cutting off from going online...

Unfortunately, I've nothing much to say except that I'm feeling so... free. It's like, floating in the air, the burden on my shoulders has disappeared O_O;; I feel.... I dunno what to feel hahahahahaha

Normally, in my stressful moments, I'd dream of all the things to do when my exams end, & I'd write them down. This time I forgot, but since I remembered it very near the exams, I still wrote down a bit of things that I'd like to do. There are A LOT of things I'd want to do, all to do with wasting time, so the best time would be in the hols. A lotta stuff I've been wanting to do since last year or the year before that. I guess there're too many ways to waste time, a person'd never actually finish them lol.

It's strange, but during studying for exam, I actually lost the desire to download. But that's most probably cos of the lousy connection in my house and the poor download speed. So most probably this time in the hols I'm gonna spend a lotta time reading. There's been lots of books that I haven't read, & kept on delaying.

There were 2 forums I've been obsessed with lately tho. One was juz recently (bad timing tho), last fri, the other was earlier on, & I wanted to blog about it, but I changed my mind, & by now, I'm not so obsessed already ^^;

The reason why I wanted to blog about it was actually because I'm a global moderator on that forum! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA *proud* I've always wanted to be a moderator on a forum, & I finally became one! & I wanted to help expand the forum, which is why I wanted to blog about it here... you see, there are only 4 members on the forum ^^; sadly, it feels quite pathetic, & telling ppl it has 4 members is not a really good start, but even if you felt pity & joined, there'd be no meaning if you didn't post, but it's up to you what you want to do anyway, & I understand how lazy it feels to post in forums & keep track with posts ;-)

& blogging is for the sake of sharing, rather than for ulterior motives, although I usually have ulterior motives when I say, ask or do something ;-P well, maybe not all the time, but pretty much... there're times when I'm zoned out, & for some reason ppl expect me to have an ulterior motive at that time, of all times ^^;

Anyway, when I have a topic to blog (hopefully more now, since I'm free), I'll post again ;-) until then~ ^__^

Writing

Nowadays, with the technology of computers all over, there has been less need to write. Nevertheless, it is still an essential skill in life.

& you have just seen an intro paragraph of what I would’ve written for an essay on “Writing” lol ;-P of course, it would be much longer, but I felt that I was wasting my time, so I stopped.

Of course, since I’m still in college, I still have a fair bit of writing to do, & all my exams are paper-based, not computer-based. But I think (or hope) that working life will be different *__* not that I mind writing, I don’t mind it at all, just that I’d think it’d be perfectly natural to live & work in a computer environment XD

There was something I used to do in primary & secondary, which I couldn’t help doing today. You see, the lecture I was going through today consisted of a lot of dictation, so I’d be either trying to follow her words & understanding it at the same time as writing it, or I’d be daydreaming. So, I couldn’t help feeling a bit bored today, because I felt bad for daydreaming, so I kinda went back to my old habit, which was what I did last time while writing instead of learning what I’m writing.

I’d compare my speed of writing to other people’s. ^_^

It’s not a big deal, actually, but I can’t help wondering how many ppl actually do that. It’s been such a long time since I last did it, so I forgot all about it. I think it also motivated me to write faster hahaha. But like today, when I looked around at other ppl while writing, most ppl were either engrossed, tired out, or bored to death too.

Anyway, I feel quite happy & proud to say this, but maybe it’s just that everyone was tired out at that time, but when I looked around at other people, I was faster than them MUAHAHAHAHA XP cos I’m normally slow, so it’s rare that I’m faster than other ppl ^^

But actually, I was faster generally, but I realised last time & now, that whenever the dictation is longer, I end up being slower (or they end up being faster). So, the conclusion is, the longer of dictation in words (for eg. reading out “long-term investment is better” rather than “is better”), the slower I’ll write compared to other people.

Another thing I realised was that every time (seriously, every time) the words are shorter, like “many reasons”, I’d definitely be faster! & I couldn’t help wondering, “Why?” But I figured out the reason last time already. It was because other people were slow to responding LOL

I hope no one is being offended by this, especially if we have sat together before, but it’s true hehe XP

To make it sound better, it’s not that other people are slow, no, it’s just that I’m faster in responding ;-P cos I realised that when the dictator says the 1^st word, I’d start writing already, but most people usually write after the 2^nd word, or even after more than the 2^nd word.

But I shouldn’t be competitive even in writing, since I’m not really competitive in anything at all (I don’t remember the last thing I felt competitive about). Although in school, I was much more competitive, including writing, I suppose it’s because kids had a lot of free time.

And that’s all I wanted to say. ;-)

I thought I would be writing very little, but I guess not lol ^^;

Anyway, I juz wanted to talk a bit about myself, even though I know there’s no point in doing this. ;-(

I’ve been really tired lately, I had classes lasting the whole day the whole of last week & I have the rest of this week to go T_T

Also, my exams are in the beginning of dec, & I HARDLY STUDIED!!!! @_@;;; argh, I’m gonna die~~ (actually, I wish I could die) >_>;;; I know there are people who say that, but there 2 big differences, one is the people who succeed in the end, & the other is people who FAIL. T_T so, I know some people may say, “aiyah, u sure pass ar.” DON’T SAY THAT. Bcos if you say that, when I fail, I will blame u for it. >_> I’ve failed before, why can’t I fail again?!? & lots of people were surprised & shocked that I failed, & I know I have only myself to blame, so yes, I’ll just go and bang my head on the wall now, I’m sure that’s better than what I’m doing now T_T

& sorry to end on this bad mood, but actually I’m fine, just depressed at lots of times before exam, & wondering whether I am able to study in this next few weeks, cos I feel like I’ve forgotten how to study hard (which wouldn’t be very far from the truth).

I hope to blog again after my exam, it’s not good to blog before exams, I feel like I’m cursing myself ^^; but I did want to blog a bit, so I’m glad I finally blogged, just that the last part was unnecessary…. Oh well…

Explosm & Dilbert

I have been lazy to blog lately, but also bcos I feel I should study instead of wasting time on9 T_T but there's been one thing which I've been meaning to do lately, which is blog about the latest thing I found interesting online... which is nothing much, so I feel a bit pathetic for blogging about this, but I'm happy & contented in my sorta boring life ;-P & that's all that matters

anyway, I'm juz gonna blog about these 2 things, cos they made me laugh when I was bored on9, so I thought, it's been a while since something made me laugh easily... ^^; I think I'm lacking humour in my life lol

so I'll start with the less funny stuff... basically, I'm juz gonna blog about these 2 sites, & they're both comics, so it's a bit strange that I would also read this kinda comics, cos I normally don't, the kinda comics I read are the japanese ones, whereas these are English...

the 1st site is Explosm. I've read a few of the strips before, but I didn't know that it was from there. however, the reason why I feel a bit pathetic for finding it funny is because only certain ppl would find the strips funny ^^; & a lotta strips are sex-related or violent, so this is juz a warning to ppl who don't like that kind of stuff ^^;

the 2nd site, & a funnier one, is Dilbert XD I think I read quite a lotta dilbert strips already, however, my favourite ones are the really old ones which aren't on the main site, which only starts in 1992, so it's too bad I can't share it here... but I shared some which are not so old, & still funny ^^ but most of the dilbert strips are either to do with companies, business, managamement, & colleagues in work, so there are a number of funny characters in that world.

Hi, let's shake hands!

The reason why I’ve been finding it hard to blog lately is because I feel that my topics aren’t happy topics, so I was reluctant to write. But I wanted to write about this for a while anyway, just that I forgot about it, so I hope it doesn’t become a not happy topic.

I’ve been wondering, is it culture, or age, or just human nature? Let me tell you what happened to me (at least 2 months ago), & see whether it happened to you or not, because this is something common for me, so it’s not like it didn’t happen before.

You know, when you meet new ppl? There’s 2 differences; one is when everyone is new, & doesn’t know each other at all, so you’ve to go around making new friends. Another one is when you’re introduced to new ppl by someone, or you meet new ppl who’re friends of your friends.

This probably applies both ways, but the most recent for me was the latter. So, I was being introduced to 4 or 5 friends of a friend, & although I say introduced, actually I wasn’t really. All that happened was that I joined my friend, said hi to his friends, & they said hi back, & that’s it. It wouldn’t even be really called a hi, more like an awkward nod of the head & an awkward smile to show that “yes, I know you’re there” but I’ve been ignored before too anyway. There were also some cases where we’d shake hands, & that feels awkward too, but not so bad, because at least both parties are trying to be nice & friendly, so we can’t help thinking of shaking hands (unless it’s because we’ve been brought up that way, & not everyone was brought up to shake hands when meeting new ppl).

There are 2 issues in this. One is that most of the time, when I meet new ppl, I don’t know their names. If we talk, it’d be talking, but no one mentions their name or asks the other. Of course, there are ppl who still start off by saying “hi, I’m XXX. What’s yours?” but that only happened with a few ppl in college last year when everyone was still new.

That was also a funny memory, because everyone is so awkward. When I came into the class on the 1^st day, the class reminded me of a tomb, as though someone died in there (which reminded me of one of my classes in school last time which was most of the time like that ^^;). Probably at break or after the 1^st day, ppl started making friends, but there were a few groups of friends already on the 1^st day because they’re from the same school or they’ve known each other before.

Unfortunately for me, I always seem to be on a path separate from my friends, but the good thing is that I make friends with new ppl, which I wouldn’t be able to if I chose the path that most of my friends went. But that’s just my personality, it’s hard for me to make friends with new ppl when I have existing friends by my side ^^;

& it’s funny, not knowing ppl’s names, because later on, when ppl start knowing each other’s names, you’ve to go & find out discreetly what their names are, & they find out about your names discreetly too, because all of a sudden, they’re suddenly calling you by name when previously they weren’t. I’m not sure how I managed this far, but I feel like a spy sometimes lol ;-P I know that some of my friends would ask me what their names are, but sometimes I wouldn’t know also, so I guess probably everyone goes asking around what a particular person’s name is from everyone but that person XP

The 2^nd issue is that not only do we not know each other’s names, but we can’t even say hi to each other when we meet! Probably other ppl may feel like me, which is why nothing happens, but I’d look at the person to see whether the person says hi first. But that person would look the other way (maybe not purposely then), so I’d look another way too ^^;

As in, this happens also when I’m with a group of ppl, & they don’t bother to say hi although I was going to, when I joined them. So I only talk occasionally when I feel like saying something, but otherwise I’ll keep quiet. Obviously, I won’t even call those ppl friends, but even ppl who aren’t that close wouldn’t do that, I feel, it depends on the person who does it.

But so far, when I think back, most of the time these occasions were with guys, not girls. So I thought maybe it’s a gender thing, you know, some guys are super shy, stuff like that. But there are some bitches too, or else normally I get along well enough with girls. So I wonder whether those guys are really shy, or whether they’re just rude, or is it a culture thing, unless everyone in other countries do that too, which I think would be normal. So then it’d be considered human nature to do something like that.

Which is why I normally end up liking guys who’re friendly & nice because then nobody would be ignored or missed out by those guys, but those guys have their faults too ^^; well, everyone has faults, so it’s just which faults you mind & which you don’t mind ;-)

& I’ll end it like this. I think this kind of topics are food for thought, but that’s because I like to think about ppl in general, with reference to examples, & human nature. ;-D

Personality test (quite narrow-minded, in my opinion)

This week, my coll is having holiday, so no one is having classes this week. Most ppl are very happy because they finished the test on monday & can enjoy this whole week. However, I still have a test next week (one of the unfortunate ones), so I still have to study this week T__T which I haven't been doing much because I've been influenced by the festive season (which isn't very hard for me to be influenced).

So, I feel bad for putting something like this again, like my previous post, but I really like doing this kinda tests! ^^; so, next time, I hope to post something... better, obviously, & not juz this kinda mindless stuff which is actually quite relaxing lol ;-P

ok, it is advised that you take a piece of paper & write down the answers, but you might as well do it on microsoft word or something XP
the answers are at the bottom, after all the questions... I didn't put my answers there, cos I don't wanna give my personality away through this test, except for some I don't mind disclosing ;-D

You are in a deep deep forest... as you walk on you saw an old hut standing there...
(1) What is the status of the door? (Opened/closed)

(2) You enter the hut and see a table... What is the shape of the table? (Round/Oval/Square/Rectangle/Triangle)

(3) On top of the table there is a vase... in the vase there is water. How much water is it filled up with? (Full/Half/Empty)

(4) And what is the vase made of? (Glass/porcelain/clay) (metal/plastic/wood)

You walk out of the hut... as you carry on your walk in the forest... you see a waterfall from far... there is water running down...

(5) What is the speed of the water? (Choose a number ranging from 0 to 10)

Some time after the waterfall... you step on something hard on the ground... as you look down... you see glistening gold in colour. You bend down and pick it up... it is a keychain chained with keys...

(6) How many key /keys you see hanging on the keychain? (Choose a number ranging from 1 to 10)

You walk on and on... trying to find your way out...suddenly you see a castle.

(7) What is the condition of the castle?　(Old/new)

You enter the castle and saw a pool of murky water with shining jewels floating on it...

(8) Will you pick up the jewel?　(YES/NO)

Next to the murky pool... there’s another pool... with clear water and money floating on it...

(9) Will you pick the money?　(YES/NO)

Walking to the end of the castle there is an exit...you proceed to walk out of the castle. Outside the exit, there is big garden, you see a box on the ground.

(10) What is the size of the box? (small/medium/big)

(11) What is the material of the box? (cardboard/paper/wooden/metal)

There is a bridge in the garden some distance away from the box,

(12) What is the bridge made of? (metal/wooden/rattan)

Across the bridge, there is a horse.

(13) What is the colour of the horse? (white/grey/brown/black)
(14) What is the horse doing? (still and quiet/nibbling grass/running about)

OH NO!!! There is a tornado coming... some distance from the horse.

(15) You have 3 options:

(i) run and hide in the box?

(ii) run and hide under the bridge?

(iii) run to the horse, ride on and gallop away?

Did the questions feel kinda repetitive? They did to me XP ok, now for the answers...

Here are the interpretations:

(1) The door:
opened door - you are a person who is willing to share
closed door - you are a person who is keeping things to yourself

(2) The table:
Round/oval - any friends that came along, you will accept and trust them completely
Square/rectangle - you are a bit more choosy on friends and only hang out with those whom you think are on the same frequency
Triangle - you are really very very picky about friends and there are not many friends in your life.

(3) Water in vase (typical question *rolls eyes*):
Empty - your life is not fulfilled
Half filled - what you want in your life is half fullfilled
Full - your life is completely fulfilled and good for you! :)

(4) Material of vase (I chose the breakable kinda material, because that's what vases are usually made of, & that's partly why I don't like vases ^^;):
glass/clay/porcelain - you are weak in your life and tends to be fragile
metal/plastic/wood - you are strong in your life

(5) Flow of waterfall (I thought this was a stupid interpretation, personally, I hope you agree with me on this XP):

0 - no sex drive at all
1 to 4 - low sex drive
5 - average sex drive
6 to 9 - high sex drive
10 - gone case!!! super high sex drive!!! Can’t live without sex...

(6) Keys:
1 - you have one good friend in your life
2 to 5 - you have a few good friends in your life
6 to 10 - you have a lot good friends

(7) Castle (I chose old, because castles ARE normally old T__T;):
Old - shows that your last relationship is not a good one and is not memorable to you.
New - your last relationship is good and it’s still fresh in your heart.

(8) The jewel from the murky pool water (hehehe I said yes XP):
YES - when your partner is around you, you will flirt around with others.
NO - when your partner is around, you will stick around with him/her most of the time.

(9) The money from the clear water pool (if it's clear, then how could I not say yes if I said yes for the prev q?!? ;-P):
YES - when your partner is not around you, you will still flirt around with others.
NO - even when your partner is not around, you will still think of her and and will be loyal to him/her, not flirting around with others.

(10) The size of the box (I chose small, it reminded me of pandora's box, you see T_T):
small - low ego
medium - average ego
big - high ego

(11) Material of the box (outlook of the box) (I chose wooden, dunno why, but I feel it should be a wooden box lol ;-)):
cardboard/paper/wooden(non-shining)

– humble personality
metal - proud and stuck up personality

(12) The material of the bridge (oh, I choose wooden too, couldn't help imagining a wooden bridge):
metal bridge - have very strong bond with your friends
wooden bridge - average bond with your friends
rattan bridge - you are not in good terms with your friends

(13) Colour of the horse (oh, this was hard for me to choose, cos I like horses ^^; but I think I chose brown, because most horses are brown, but I like white horses & black horses too XD):
white - your partner is pure and good in your heart.
grey/brown - your partner is only average in your heart.
black - your partner doesn’t seem to be good in your heart and appears to be bad sign.

(14) Horse action (of course I imagined the horse to be nibbling grass, I mean, why would I imagine the horse to be running around?!? O_O;;):
still and quiet/nibbling grass - your partner is a very homely and humble person.
running about - your partner is a wild type person.

(15) This the last but most important part of the test. (I have no comment for this one ;-P)

Now, the above is signified by these things:

tornado - problems in your life
box - you
bridge - your friends
horse - your partner

(i) So if you choose the box, you keep your problems to yourself whenever you are met with problems.
(ii) or if you choose the bridge, you will go to your friends whenever you are met problems.
(iii) or lastly if you choose the horse, you seek your partner whenever your partner whenever you are met with problems.

As you can see, these are the answers. It's up to you whether you believe it or not, but most of the time I'm just taking it for fun, so I advise you to not take it so seriously whatever you got for your answer ;-)
